Book Performances and Visual Essays

Influenced by Harun Farocki, Chris Marker, Agnes Varda, this is a series of live performance works beginning in 2017 that are experimental live-documentaries and visual essays that take as their subject failed revolutionary movements, little-known stories of resistance, queer ghosts, and alternate histories. Text is projected on screens, read collectively from hand-made art books, or delivered as a live voice-over. Pedagogical tools and materials are subverted: a biology text-book dissolves on the tongue, a power point presentation is annotated with a paintball gun, a lecturer is stapled to the screen that that the lecture is projected on.
